Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Scrub Informer collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website to read or post workplace reviews of healthcare facilities and staffing agencies.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or post reviews, we collect:

  • Account Information: Username, email address, password (encrypted)
  • Profile Information: Any optional information you choose to add to your profile, including your healthcare role, specialty, or department
  • Review Content: Ratings, comments, and feedback you post about healthcare facilities, departments, and staffing agencies where you have worked or held a contract

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our site, we may collect:

  • Usage Data: Pages viewed, time spent on site, links clicked
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address
  • Cookies: Small data files that help us improve your experience

Third-Party Analytics

We use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This information is processed by Google in accordance with their own privacy practices. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

Protected Health Information (PHI)

Scrub Informer is not a HIPAA-covered entity and does not collect Protected Health Information. However, because our reviewers are healthcare workers describing workplaces where they have provided patient care, there is a meaningful risk that review content could inadvertently contain PHI.

Reviewers must not include any of the following in their submissions:

  • Patient names, initials, room numbers, medical record numbers, or any other patient identifiers
  • Specific diagnoses, treatments, or clinical details tied to identifiable patients
  • Dates of care, dates of admission or discharge, or other dates that could identify a specific patient
  • Photographs, screenshots of medical records, or any images that contain patient information
  • Information that would allow a third party to identify a specific patient when combined with other available information

Reviewers are responsible for ensuring their submissions comply with HIPAA and any other applicable patient privacy laws or employer confidentiality obligations. Posting PHI on Scrub Informer may violate federal law and your employer’s policies. We reserve the right to remove or edit any content we believe contains PHI, and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate this policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve our review platform for healthcare workers
  • Create and manage your account
  • Display your reviews and ratings on facility and agency pages
  • Respond to your questions and support requests
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and the posting of fake or defamatory content
  • Analyze site usage to improve user experience

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your email address, password, and any information that could personally identify you will not be sold to third parties.

We may share your information in these limited circumstances:

  • Public Reviews: Your username, any optional role or specialty information you have made public, and your review content are publicly visible on our site. Anyone with internet access can read this content, and search engines may index it.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or property of Scrub Informer, our users, or the public
  • Service Providers: With trusted third parties who help us operate our site (e.g., hosting providers, analytics services, email delivery services), under confidentiality obligations
  • Business Transfers: If Scrub Informer is acquired by or merged with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction

If we change our practices in the future to include the licensing or sale of aggregated, de-identified review data, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify users before implementing any such practices.

4. Review Content, Community Standards, and Defamation

Scrub Informer is a platform for honest workplace reviews. By posting a review, you confirm that:

  • Your review describes your own firsthand experience working at the facility or with the agency
  • The factual statements in your review are true to the best of your knowledge
  • Opinions expressed in your review are clearly your own perspective and not stated as established facts
  • Your review does not include the names of specific coworkers, managers, or other individual employees in a way intended to harass, defame, or retaliate against them
  • Your review does not violate any non-disclosure agreement, employer confidentiality policy, or other contractual obligation you have agreed to

We reserve the right to remove or edit reviews that we believe contain:

  • False statements of fact
  • Personally targeted attacks on identifiable individuals
  • Protected Health Information
  • Threats, harassment, or content that incites harm
  • Spam, advertising, or content unrelated to a workplace experience
  • Content that appears to be posted by parties with an undisclosed conflict of interest (e.g., facility staff posting positive reviews of their own employer, competing agencies posting negative reviews of rivals)

You are solely responsible for the content you post. Posting defamatory content may expose you to legal liability from the parties you have written about. We are not your lawyer and do not provide legal advice about what you can or should post.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update or correct your information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it

Please note that requesting deletion of your account does not automatically delete reviews you have posted. Reviews may remain visible in anonymized form (with your username removed) because they form part of the public record other users have relied on. You may request specific reviews be removed by contacting support.
