Saw more pressure injuries here than anywhere else. It's a nursing culture problem.

This is a federally qualified health center that also runs a small inpatient unit. The patient population is predominantly underserved - uninsured, underinsured, and dealing with significant social determinants of health. The nursing work here is as much about connecting patients to resources as it is about clinical care. Rewarding in a different way than a big academic center.

Took a contract because the city was on my bucket list. Hospital was a bonus.

Took a 13-week contract on their progressive care unit. The patient population was mostly cardiac - post-cath, CHF exacerbations, post-pacemaker. Ratios were 1:4 which is appropriate for the acuity. The monitors were newer and the unit secretary was fantastic about catching rhythms. Biggest complaint was that the beds were ancient and patients constantly complained about comfort. Overall a solid assignment that I'd repeat.
