Worked their cardiac telemetry unit. 32 beds, usually full. Ratios were 1:5 on days. The monitor techs were excellent - sharp eyes and good communication when they spotted changes. Cardiologists rounded early and were available for questions throughout the day. They use a standardized chest pain protocol that works well. If you like cardiac nursing this is a good fit.

They cancelled me 4 times in 6 weeks. Hard to budget around that.

This children's hospital was my first peds assignment and it changed my career trajectory. The child life specialists, the family-centered care approach, the way the entire hospital is designed to reduce fear in children - it's a different world from adult care. I'm now pursuing pediatric certification because of this experience. Some assignments change your direction. This was one of them.
